- Check the directory of New Zealand newspapers and magazines from Lincoln University library. Mainly specialised topics.
- Current
- The New Zealand Herald newspaper.
- The Wellington-based NewsRoom includes brief current news and a subscription service.
- TVNZ (TV1) One Network News offers a good selection of today's news stories.
- "7am" provides New Zealand News Wires which includes direct links to news carried by other sources. Also has mirror site in USA.
- The New Zealand News (Christchurch) presents the Press Online. See especially the archive of the last week's national news.
- Otago Daily Times is a fast improving site.
- Independent Business Weekly also includes a daily news page.
- Radio New Zealand International, promises live radio feed from Radio NZ. It is very heavy on frames and graphics and almost impossible to access. All "bells and whistles, can't find the content!
- Within a week
- New Zealand News UK is a developing weekly electronic news source. This is a freely distributed weekly newspaper in London.
- Current and recent New Zealand News, Brian Harmer's "WYSIWIG News" in web format. Articles are entered every Sunday.
- The Evening Post provides a "guide to entertainment" in Wellington. Much current information.
- InfoTech Weekly offers some useful articles on NZ information technology.
- A week or two old
- New Zealand News, Russell Brown's "Hard News". Another site that loads news items a couple of times a month. Much of this represents a personal account of the news.
- Tena koutou katoa, monthly Maori news. Unfortunately, it appears not to be updated very often.
- Other
- The Independent Newspapers Limited is starting to place some of its papers online and will list them when available.
- And, for those really serious about access to New Zealand news sources, the Knowledge-basket explains subscription methods to many sites, all at a fee.

- The New Zealand Government Online. Includes links to all departments. Also includes a useful listing of recent news items from government sources. Definitely the place to start!
- New central "New Zealand Government Executive" site for Government statements and information.
- The complete New Zealand national Budget for 1998, 1997 and 1996.
- Text of the Coalition Agreement (New Zealand First and the National Party) 11 December 1996. (Well, it does have historical significance!)
- The New Zealand Government has been remarkably reluctant to provide email access to members and departments. At present there is a central email address from which email may be sent in a general way to Parliament.
