Many publishers and sellers as well as collectors of books have a presence on the internet. You may locate a particular publisher or seller, search the "stacks" of bookstores, request a particular volume, and order express delivery of a book as well as conduct general correspondence all over the network. You will need to explore several of these sites before you find just what you want, but it is probably out there somewhere.
To start, you may want to explore some general indexes:
- One of the most extensive is the AAUP Combined Online Catalog/Bookstore, Association of American University Presses.
- A large alphabetical Index of sellers and publishers around the world.
- The Internet Book Information Center is a good starting point and provides many useful links.
- BookWire, provides extensive links to help you find a book or a dealer or a publisher. It includes a list of University Press and other publishers sites but none from Australia. Also gives a large list of booksellers, but again none from Australia. Another link from BookWire is an Index of other information related to booksellers and publishers.
- Another useful site is the List of publishers and sellers from Vanderbilt University.
- Prentice Hall has a searchable database.
