Studies will include coastal and arid ecosystems and their climate, soils, landscape, vegetation types and fauna. The exploitation of natural resources will be examined as part of the Australian experience using appropriate case studies, e.g. coastal ecosystem management, development and conservation of wetlands, forest rehabilitation after sand mining or fire. The course concludes in Cairns at the Great Barrier Reef where students will have plenty of time to explore the World Heritage protected rain forests plus the magnificent Barrier Reef.
