Description:
The program provides the opportunity to combine study of ecological theory with practical research experience in one of the earth's richest biological systems. This course is offered at three levels: a graduate course, an undergraduate course and a non-degree credit option. There will be an orientation session on campus prior to the trip. In the field there will be daily group exercises, lectures and time for individual study. Each student will carry out an individual supervised research project and write a report. Topics can be selected from a wide variety of problems including seabird populations, plankton, reef fish, island vegetation, plant dispersal, marine invertebrates, etc. All persons planning to scuba dive should provide their own equipment, have a medical fitness certification and documentation of their qualifications.
