Art in the Outback
Art in the Outback is based at the University of New South Wales College
of Fine Arts (COFA) in the art area of Sydney. This program, intended for
practitioners, is designed to introduce art students to the unique visual,
historical and environmental aspects of the Australian landscape. Through
field work, formal lectures, studio work and museum visits students students
will receive an overview of Australian and Aboriginal art. The program visits

Australian Aboriginal Studies
This course will examine the origins and history surrounding Australia's
Aboriginal people by using archaeological and "Dreamtime" perspectives.
Students will spend time in the bush learning from Aboriginal Australians
about their traditional relationships with their natural environment. Roles
played by archaeology and anthropology in the development and understanding

Dreaming Tracks to Super Highways: A Cross-Cultural Journey with
Indigenous Australians
This field-study excursion will last for 18 days and take students to a
series of site that are historically and spiritually significant to indigenous
Australians including Yuendumu, Uluru (Ayer's Rock), Glen Helen, Goose Bluff,
Kings Canyon, Devils Marbles and Alice Springs.One week prior to the excursion
on campus at James Cook University will be spent being introduced to the

Crime and the Media in Australia
This intensive four week course examines the way hournalists and
media organizations report and construct news about crime and criminal justice

Australian Eco Tour
This program gives you the unique opportunity to travel from Sydney to
the most remote roadhouses in the Outback while studying the plants, animals
and geological features of Australia. It will emphasize the basic concepts
in environmental education for primary and secondary schools, studying the
national parks of Australia and also paying special attention to the cultural
relationships between people and environment, especially through artwork.
This five week program will allow students to travel by an air-conditioned,
toilet and video equipped coach, and camp out at night in recognized campgrounds
in tents or in bunkhouse accommodations. This six credit program is open
to all students with good academic standing. The deadline for applications

Australian Wildlife and Conservation
A six week course that explored the physical and biological nature of selected

Now in its seventh year, the Summer School in Filmmaking: From Script
to Screen held on campus at the University of Melbourne, offers
intensive teaching in all aspects of film production. Each day or
session is taught by leading Australian film industry practitioners in the
their area of expertise. The course is designed to cover the essential skills,
basic knowledge and industry insight needed to make films, knowledge that
would normally require years of experience to acquire, and will equip participants
with the confidence, knowledge and skills to start a career in film or television
and translate their own ideas and visions to the screen. More exciting than

Maritime and Environmental History of the South Coast - A Sailing
Adventure
This course traces the history and influence of Eurpoean interaction with
the marine and coastal environment of the south coast of Western Australia.

Winter Down Under
Winter Down Under is a special program designed for students who wish to
become acquainted with Australian life and can take advantage of Intersession
to earn three credits. Students will be hosted by the University of Queensland,
located in Brisbane. Site visits will be made to various Australian business
organizations to enhance the students learning experience and gain knowledge
about doing business in the Pacific Rim. Participants earn a total of 3
undergraduate credits. Students will be housed with families that are associated

Marine Ecology of Temperate Australia
This course provides a general grounding in the major concepts of contemporary
marine ecology, and detailed study and analysis of temperate Australian
marine systems. The course includes field work, laboratory practicals, lectures,
tutorials, and workshops under the guidance of an international staff of
outstanding marine scientists. The majority of the course will be delivered

Australian National Internship Program
The program provides access to internship placements for Australian and
overseas university students. These placements can be with the Federal parliament,
the Australian Public Service, the Australian Capital Territory Assembly
or Service, The Australian Council for Overseas Aid, Greening Australia,
Keep Australia Beautiful National Association, social policy or non-government
peak and community organizations. Students complete a research project under
the supervision of academic staff for which they receive an academic grade.

This program offers qualified students the opportunity to blend work experience

Social Work Placemernt
The School of Social Administration and Social Work offers overseas social
work students the opportunity to take their field placements in Adelaide.
Students are provided with social work practice experiences in one of Adelaide's
human service agencies under the supervision of a qualified social worker
from that agency and an academic staff member from Flinders. The length

The program is divided into parts. The first seven weeks help students become
familiar with Sydney and prepare them for their internship. They enroll
